Health and fitness data
With your permission, CrawlFit reads these Health Connect data types:
- Steps: counts and record times used for the Steps ring, activity history, quests, and achievements.
- Distance: distance records used for activity and workout summaries, quests, and achievements.
- Exercise sessions: workout type, start and end time, and duration used for the Workout ring, workout history, Crawler Skills, quests, and achievements.
- Speed: workout samples used to calculate and display pace, speed, and splits when the source provides them.
CrawlFit does not request Health Connect access to heart rate, resting heart rate, heart-rate variability, blood oxygen, active or total calories, elevation gained, floors climbed, sleep, location, or exercise routes.
The Move ring is not a calorie measurement. CrawlFit calculates Move points locally from permitted daily steps and logged workout minutes; active-energy data is not read or used to close the visible rings, award XP, or maintain streaks.
Optional background Health Connect access lets CrawlFit periodically read the same four data types while the app is closed. Background access is not required for foreground use and can be revoked separately.
App-generated data
CrawlFit creates and stores game and configuration data on your device, including rings, goals, quests, achievements, XP, rank, streaks, Crawler Skills, connection state, sync history, preferences, and save metadata. CrawlFit does not ask you to create an account or enter weight, height, age, or sex.
How the app uses and stores data
- Health Connect and app-generated data is processed locally to provide CrawlFit's activity, workout, and game features, including Move-point calculations.
- CrawlFit does not transmit raw Health Connect records, numeric activity values, or local save files to its developer or to an advertising service. When diagnostics is enabled, the limited events below go to Sentry.
- Data remains in the app's local storage until you clear the app's data or uninstall it.
- You can revoke CrawlFit's Health Connect permissions at any time. Revoking access stops future reads but does not automatically erase data CrawlFit previously stored locally.
- CrawlFit does not sell health, fitness, or app-use data and does not use it for advertising or profiling.
Backups and retention
Backups are created only after you choose a folder. CrawlFit writes timestamped automatic saves and manual save points to that folder through Android's Storage Access Framework. The folder may be local or may belong to a cloud-storage provider selected by you.
CrawlFit does not upload those files to a CrawlFit server and cannot control how a selected storage provider handles them. A provider may sync the files under its own terms and privacy policy. CrawlFit does not add application-level encryption to the save files, so choose and protect the folder appropriately.
Clearing app data or uninstalling removes the app's local database but may not remove backups stored outside the app. Delete those files through the selected storage provider when you no longer want them.
User-disableable diagnostics in beta and production
Both Google Play beta and production builds use the same diagnostics to help identify crashes and Health Connect sync failures. Diagnostics is enabled by default and can be turned off at any time in CrawlFit Settings.
When enabled, CrawlFit may send the following to Sentry:
- a random installation identifier that is not tied to a CrawlFit account;
- app version, Android version, device manufacturer/model, and standard SDK device/app context;
- selected tracker ecosystem and coarse connection/background-management state;
- sync outcome, exception type and stack location, and coarse freshness, duration, and fidelity classifications;
- a timestamped, coarse event that a Move goal was completed, without the goal or activity values.
The diagnostics payload is designed not to include raw Health Connect records, numeric step or distance totals, speed samples, workout details, source-package names, names, email addresses, or account information. Exception messages are removed before transmission, and CrawlFit disables Sentry's automatic activity-lifecycle, app-lifecycle, system-event, app-component, and user-interaction breadcrumbs. Standard crash, device, operating-system, and app context can still accompany crash reports. Sentry and network providers may process connection metadata such as an IP address while delivering the request. CrawlFit's Sentry project has IP-address storage prevention and the default server-side data scrubbers enabled. Sentry processes the diagnostic data for CrawlFit under its own security and privacy terms. Diagnostic events are retained for 30 days.
Turning diagnostics off stops future diagnostic transmission. Previously received events remain until the applicable retention period expires. Uninstalling the app removes its locally stored random identifier but does not immediately delete events already received by Sentry.
Feedback and support
When you choose a feedback or support action, CrawlFit opens an email application with diagnostic text that you can review and edit. Nothing is sent until you choose to send the message. The contents are then handled by your email provider and the CrawlFit support mailbox. Support messages are retained only as long as needed to respond, investigate the issue, and maintain an appropriate support record.
CrawlFit website
This is a static website hosted through Cloudflare. CrawlFit does not add advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or a visitor-account system for launch. Cloudflare may process standard web-request and security data needed to deliver and protect the site under Cloudflare's terms and privacy policy.
Links to Google Play, Health Connect help, email, storage providers, or an optional Ko-fi page take you to services operated under their own terms and privacy policies. A Ko-fi link, if present, is voluntary and does not unlock app features or transmit health data to Ko-fi.
Children
CrawlFit is intended for people aged 16 and over. The production app does not create user accounts or transmit personal or health data to CrawlFit.
Changes to this policy
Material changes will be posted at the public policy URL with a new effective date. The old GitHub Pages address will remain available for installed builds that still link to it.
