Initial setup
- Make sure the fitness app paired with your watch or phone is recording activity.
- In that fitness app, enable its Health Connect connection and allow it to write the activity types you want.
- Open CrawlFit, choose your tracker route, and grant the requested Health Connect read permissions.
- Complete CrawlFit's connection check. Permission alone is not enough; setup completes after supported activity is visible through Health Connect.
- Choose whether to allow background access. Without it, opening CrawlFit or using refresh still updates activity.
If no activity appears
Find where the records stop before changing permissions or reinstalling:
- Missing in your fitness app? Finish syncing your watch with its own app first. CrawlFit cannot repair that connection.
- In the fitness app, but missing in Health Connect? Check that app's Health Connect sharing and write permissions for Steps or Exercise. A connected watch alone is not enough.
- In Health Connect, but missing in CrawlFit? Check CrawlFit's read permissions, open it and refresh, then run its connection check in Settings.
Connection checklist
- Open Health Connect and confirm both the fitness app and CrawlFit have the expected permissions.
- Confirm recent Steps or Exercise records from the fitness app are visible in Health Connect.
- Open the fitness app and let it finish syncing the watch before refreshing CrawlFit.
- On Android 13 or earlier, confirm the separate Health Connect app is installed and current.
- In CrawlFit Settings, run the connection check and use Share diagnostics if support asks for it.
Do not grant CrawlFit heart-rate, calorie, elevation, floor, blood-oxygen, location, or exercise-route permissions. The current app does not request them.
Saves and recovery
Choose a save folder in CrawlFit Settings if you want progress to survive uninstall or data clearing. CrawlFit writes automatic snapshots and manual save points through Android's file picker. A cloud-storage provider may sync that folder under its own terms.
During a fresh installation, use the restore-first Load option before starting replacement progress. Clearing app data or uninstalling removes the local database but does not necessarily remove saves stored in the folder you chose.
